Fairgame aim to produce theatre that is inspirational, credible, relevant, accessible and ultimately entertaining, that, through its creative process and performance, has the ability to transform lives.
The company was founded by Bernie Bennett and Sarah Blowers in 2002, initially as a response to the introduction of Citizenship as a subject in the National Curriculum. Fairgame has since evolved into an organisation that has a reputation for having its finger on the pulse and for delivering high quality, tightly managed projects.
The needs and talents of young people were the driving force behind the company at the beginning and continue to be at the heart of what we do in terms of projects, youth theatre, summer schools, TIE, audiences and youth employment opportunities in our shows.
We became a registered charity in 2003 and currently employ three regular part time members of staff (details below). Our roots are firmly placed in Gloucestershire, although we also work regularly across the region and nationally.
We have three distinct but sometimes overlapping themes of work:
shows
More Our theatre work is characterised by its physical nature with an emphasis on original live music. As a touring company we aim to take theatre to the people by touring locally, regionally and nationally to theatre and community venues.
education
More We offer a varied programme for schools and colleges. As well as a programme of issue based shows, we offer bespoke arts based projects throughout the year that can link in with relevant issues or projects.
outreach
More We offer a varied and exciting outreach programme and have worked with a whole range of groups, such as older people, young men at risk of offending and the traveller community.
We work in association with partners such as Gloucestershire PCT, National Children Homes and Stroud Autistic Society and offer bespoke projects dependent on your needs. Please give us a call to discuss your ideas and requirements.
our core team
As a project funded organisation, we have a small core team, but work with a large network of over seventy five highly skilled freelance artists from a range of disciplines including film, music and dance as well as theatre.
